As some of you may know, I rewore my Vanille costume that I made wayyyy back in 2011 to this past AX. I'm glad I did! I got to work with some new photographers This is shot by one of them!
I actually followed this photog as an artist 7 years ago on DeviantArt, and we finally got to meet up at AX for the first time ever! It's pretty cool how the cosplay community is like that. It was awesome working with you, Reno! Loveeee this photo!
(Can you believe that we just shot this on some random patch of grass outside the parking garage? Photogs be magic yo.)
Anyways, info about the costume- I spent almost 2-3 months on (not working on it everyday of course haha) and my crappy weapon that I made in less than 24 hours . Yes, I made the Pearlwing Staff because I thought it looked better than the original weapon and I liked the colours better too. I think I spent a good couple months before that just researching up on every single Vanille picture out there for different angles of the costume then spent another good month gathering materials xD.
I painted over 1000+ beads and bought paints specifically to match Vanille's colours. I used 2500+ beads for this costume... so I am wearing them all over. You really can't tell I used that much eh? The beads are super small. The necklaces were made from memory wire, model magic, suede strings (that I painted) and coloured string used to make bracelets. The center piece is from sculpty and the fangs were handmade from model magic. Bracelets were painted, and each string of bead is sewn onto my pink wrap thingy. I have lots and LOTS of clasps all over my body and it would have been impossible to put it on myself LOL. The string of beads around my body were strung with wire so they wouldn't lose it's shape and be floppy - I think I cut myself many times while putting on the costume T_T. I also think I spent way too much money gathering the perfect materials.
Fun Facts: My hands and KrazFD's hands were orange/yellow for 2 weeks after dyeing Vanille's skirt. It looked liked cheetos permanently dyed our hands LOL.
I don't have ear-piercings - guess how I got my earrings on
I was upset when I was styling her wig - thus I cut it too short. Reminder to self: NEVER cut a wig when you're in a bad mood. OTL
Special Thanks: KrazFD for helping me bead and sacrificing your hands to help me gradient dye my skirt Wing2x1 for last minute repairs and reinforcing my costume while I was putting it on A-Cheek for trying to dye and making my fur buttcape, even though you said it didn't work - it looks great!
