Reith - Colours of Summer

Wore this to Otakuthon 2012! This was my very first convention outside of the province that I lived in, so it was pretty awesome. Going to Montreal with more than 20 friends and just touring the city was amazing. Lots of crazy things happened, including dressing up one of my male friends in a super tight pikachu outfit while he Gangnam Styled down the streets of Montreal Downtown. LOL! _{Although it was funny, I do not encourage you to try it because he almost got hit by cars on more than one occasion}

I also entered the Masquerade. Didn't win anything but it was still a good experience to be on such a big stage and to be in the greenroom with many other talented cosplayers.


Costume Details:
The construction of this costume went surprisingly smooth. Perhaps it was because the yellow fabric was almost like canvas so it was really easy to sew.

I have over 200 feathers at the end of my braids. I glued them one by one to a marabou strip then bobby pined it on the elastic holding the braid together.

The clear flaps in the front was handpainted to look like lace and any gradients on it were sprayed with acrylic. The colours on the petals were also painted. The shape of the petals were held using a layer of buckram.

A week before the con, the top of my weapon broke off , so I had to remake it while stuffing 4 metal rods in between the pole and the insulation foam fan part. Any parts on the pole that doesn't look like a pole was made using aluminium foil, masking tape and dry wall plaster.

Also... DARN THESE SHOE DESIGNS!! D: IT WAS SO HARD TO WALK IN THESE SHOES! I made the bottom using insulation foam and glued wire designs on it. Never knew it would be so hard to walk completely flat footed the whole con.
